The City of Sullivan Police Department is dedicated to protecting the safety and well-being of our residents, businesses, and visitors. Our officers serve with professionalism, integrity, and respect, working every day to keep Sullivan a safe and welcoming place to live, work, and visit.

Chief Michael Garrett leads the City of Sullivan Police Department with a commitment to fairness, transparency, and service. Our officers respond to the needs of residents and visitors alike. We believe that every interaction matters and that public safety is built on trust, respect and professionalism.
Our Services
Our department’s full-time officers and reserve volunteers provide a broad array of services, including:

Responding to crimes, accidents and emergencies throughout the city.

Conducting preliminary investigations, processing evidence, and interviewing witnesses, suspects and victims.

Patrolling all areas of the city with a focus on traffic enforcement and crime prevention.

Enforcing city, state and federal laws and ordinances.

Maintaining rigorous training standards — including use of force protocols — under the direction of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.

Responding to disasters or civil disturbances and providing detailed court testimony when needed.

Transporting and processing prisoners in coordination with correctional facilities and courts.

Leveraging community volunteers through our Reserve Officer Program to assist at parades, festivals, athletic events and other occasions.

Community Service
We are glad to connect with our citizens outside of emergencies. The Police Department hosts an annual “First Responders Night Out” where officers and residents meet informally in the park. Look for upcoming announcements on our website for date and time.
