Clerk-Treasurer
The Clerk Treasurer’s Office is responsible for managing the City of Sullivan’s financial records, budgets, and official documents while ensuring transparency and accountability in all city operations. Led by Clerk Treasurer Sue Pitts, the office supports the Mayor, City Council, and Board of Public Works and Safety by maintaining accurate records, preparing financial reports, and providing residents with clear access to public information.

Sue Pitts has served as Sullivan’s elected Clerk-Treasurer since 2005. She manages the city’s finances, maintains official records, prepares budgets and reports for the Mayor and City Council, and serves as clerk for both the Council and the Board of Public Works and Safety. Sue is committed to transparency, accuracy, and providing dependable service to the residents of Sullivan.
Role of the Clerk Treasurer
The Clerk Treasurer is elected to a four year term with no term limits. The office is responsible for processing and managing all City finances at the direction of the Mayor and City Council.
Key responsibilities include:

Receiving and safeguarding all City funds and disbursing money as authorized by the City Council

Keeping financial accounts that show where City money comes from and to whom it is paid

Prescribing payroll and accounting forms for all City offices

Preparing budget revenue estimates, financial statements, and proposed tax rates for the City Council
-
Maintaining custody of the City seal and the records of the City Council
-
Serving as clerk for City Council meetings and the Board of Public Works and Safety, recording all proceedings
-
Administering oaths, including weddings, and serving as a notary without charging a fee
-
Presenting ordinances, orders, and resolutions to the Mayor for approval and keeping those records
-
Providing citizens open access to public records and ensuring public meetings follow Indiana law

Appointing deputies and employees as authorized by the Board of Public Works and Safety and City Council
Over time, this position has grown from a bookkeeping role into a full financial management office for City government.

Deputy Clerk-Treasurer

Lisa McCammon serves as the Deputy Clerk-Treasurer for the City of Sullivan, appointed to support the Clerk-Treasurer in managing the day-to-day operations of City Hall. In addition to assisting with financial records and accounting, Lisa provides friendly, knowledgeable help to residents, visitors, and staff. She plays a key role in maintaining accurate records, supporting City departments and boards, and ensuring the smooth, efficient operation of city government. Known for her reliability and willingness to go the extra mile, Lisa is a valued resource for everyone who contacts or visits City Hall.
